journal _Contemporary Islam_

The Editors of the new journal Contemporary Islam are pleased to invite
you to the one-day symposium "Beyond the Stereotypes: Dynamics of Muslim
Life in the Globalized World", to be held on 26 October 2007 in
Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The aims of the symposium are to encourage
the academic discussion on the topic and to celebrate the
publication/launch of the new journal.

This unique event, with contributions from miriam cooke, Richard Martin,
Lawrence Rosen and Bryan Turner will be a ground-breaking mini symposium
offering insights into the contemporary dynamics of Muslim life by
focusing on questions concerning the presence of Muslims in the West, as
well as the relationship that Muslims have with globalization and its
consequences on their lives, dreams and everyday experiences.
Earlier this year, Contemporary Islam: Dynamics of Muslim Life, the
research journal that focuses on topical issues by taking an
interdisciplinary approach that benefits from a cross-cultural
perspective, was launched within Springer's Religious Studies publishing
program. This program approaches Western and Non-Western religion from
the perspective of the social sciences and philosophy, featuring
publications that are topical, renewing, and globally-oriented while
being at the forefront of research. The first issue of the new journal
is freely accessible on springerlink.com
