Call for papers

Environnement Urbain/Urban Environment

The first issue of _Environnement Urbain_ / _Urban Environment_ is now
available online at http://www.vrm.ca/cyber-revues.asp
and the editor would like to invite interested scholars to submit
their work to the journal. Interdisciplinary and international, the
journal publishes scholarly articles, review articles, book reviews and
critical reviews. The articles undergo peer evaluation, must increase
knowledge in the field and be highly innovative. Manuscripts may be
submitted in either English or French.

The journal considers for publication high quality, original texts
dealing with one or more social, political, cultural, anthropological
or economic aspects of the environment. However, its scope is limited
to urban and metropolitan areas. Contributors are invited to discuss
the situations in Québec or Canada, but may also include the state of
affairs in other parts of the world. Theoretical and methodological
articles are also welcome.

We seek papers that, in one way or another, are connected to the
relationship between urban societies and their environment. Relevant
topics range from urban ecology to the history of the environment, the
status of nature in the city, the attributes and quality of natural and
built environments, the impact of environmental stress on health,
metropolitan governance and environmental aspects of urban economies.
The journal places no restrictions on the way contributors wish to
treat these issues.

The journal editor also welcomes proposals for special issues that
address relevant and timely topics. Proposals submitted by a guest
editor must include a brief outline of the topic to be addressed,
including the names of those who were asked to submit a paper for
publication.

Presentation of manuscripts

The manuscripts must meet the standards of a high-quality, scholarly
journal. Two readers and the editor will evaluate the texts received,
which must be original. Manuscripts must be sent in electronic format
to the following address: environnement.urbain at ucs.inrs.ca (please
indicate the software and format used). They must include a summary and
five keywords. The author(s) should provide the title, abstract and
keywords in English and French and, if possible, Spanish. Charts,
photographs and illustrations must be sent in JPEG format in separate
files. Articles must not exceed 10,000 words, inclusive of notes and
bibliography. Review articles, book reviews and critical reviews must
not exceed 4,000 words.
