1. Architecture Department Tenure-track Position

Assistant Professor position in current design culture and theoretical
discourse in architectural and planning practice in a global context

The Department of Architecture invites applications for a full-time
tenure-track position beginning in fall 2008 at the Assistant Professor
level. Qualified candidates should demonstrate understanding and
expertise in questions of current design culture and theoretical
discourse as applicable to architectural and planning practice in a
global context. Candidates should either have a history of professional
experience or have been engaged in high level architectural, urban or
planning research initiatives. Candidates should have a portfolio
demonstrating records of accomplishments in social and theoretical
urbanism, planning, landscape or architectural design or scholarship in
these areas. The candidate must hold a terminal degree in architecture,
planning or a related discipline and equivalent experience in research
or practice with a focus that would enhance the department's position
for global engagement.  The candidate will be required to teach design
or planning studios and have a focus in one or more of the following
areas:

* spatial and social planning theory in a global context
* urban history and theory
* behavior and culture
* sustainable human ecology

The candidate will also serve as a thesis advisor and will be required
to serve on Department, College and University committees. The salary
will be competitive at an assistant professor level.  Applications should

2. University of Colorado - Boulder - Assistant Professor,
global/transnational gender studies

The Women and Gender Studies Program (WGST) at the University of
Colorado at Boulder invites applications for a tenure-track position at
the rank of assistant professor in the field of global/transnational
gender studies.

The successful candidate will have a well-developed research agenda and
a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate
levels. Although academic discipline and area field are open, WGST is
looking for a scholar whose work will complement (rather than duplicate)
our existing strengths in political science and Latin America. Within
the interdisciplinary field of global/transnational gender studies,
areas of interest might include migration, human trafficking, gender and
health, feminisms, human rights, the feminization of poverty, and
transnational cultural flows. The qualified candidate's research and
teaching will demonstrate a solid grounding in feminist studies. In
addition, she/he should be prepared to teach one or more of the
program's core courses; contribute to the program's thematic emphasis on
gender, race, and globalization; and help strengthen this emphasis in
cognate departments at CU. The appointment is scheduled to begin August
2008.

Caribbean Ethnic Studies


University of Oregon: Assistant Professor (tenure-related) in
Transnational Caribbean Ethnic Studies to begin in September 2008.
Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in appropriate field by September 15,
2008; scholarship and teaching on people of the African Diaspora,
primarily in the Caribbean, including those with transnational,
diasporic, or comparative perspectives; the ability to teach some
courses related to race and the United States. Additional qualifications
desired but not required: scholarship and teaching on women of color,

4. Miami University, tenure-track position in cultural anthropology

Miami University: The Department of Anthropology invites applications
for a tenure-track position in cultural anthropology. Candidates should
have regional expertise in Russia or Eurasia, with ongoing research in
economic, political, or urban anthropology preferred. Rank open. For
appointment as associate professor, require demonstrated excellence
in teaching and established record of scholarly research.  For appointment
as tenured, full professor, require established record of teaching, research
and service appropriate for appointment to the rank of full professor
with tenure at Miami University.

of Anthropology.  The successful candidate will teach introductory and
upper division undergraduate courses; maintain an active research program

service to the university and the profession. Ph.D. in anthropology required
by time of appointment. Required qualities include: excellence in teaching,
ability to contribute to a four-field department, and ongoing research.  The
Anthropology program has existed at Miami for over fifty years, and became
an independent department in 2002.
