For further info on the the discussion of polorazied light.  Note the idea of the right and left handness of the molecules at the end of the article.



Interesting to note that the length of the glucose column is noted as important.   The colors will change by changing the length (depth) of the fluid, since it is the equivalent of rotating the filters.
