[Ysu-academic-senate] Report on STRS spending

Senate Colleagues:

    Please find attached an outline of a talk on the State
Teachers Retirement System given last Friday, October 10, 2003,
by Dr. Dennis Leone, Superintendent of the Chillicothe, Ohio,
public schools, to the Ohio Faculty Council.  Dr. Leone's
courageous investigation of STRS last spring led to his
publication of a stinging indictment of STRS staff and board
members for the misuse of STRS funds that prompted the
resignation of Herb Dyer, CEO of STRS, editorials across the
State calling for an official investigation of STRS and the
removal of Mr. Dyer, and a series of legislative initiatives to
curb abuses.
