w:st="on">Old</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">Town</st1:PlaceType>, continues
to <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Lodz</st1:City></st1:place> to
learn about the restoration and adaptive reuse of its historical buildings
including industrial complex and the palaces of former
industrialists. Visit the remnants of Jewish life in <st1:City
w:st="on">Lodz</st1:City> and the Lodz Ghetto including the largest remaining
Jewish cemetery in <st1:place w:st="on">Europe</st1:place>. From <st1:City
w:st="on">Lodz</st1:City>, travel to <st1:place w:st="on">Auschwitz</st1:place>
for a two day study tour including a day at the Museum’s conservation lab
doing hands on work! Tour the Wieliczka Salt Mines, one of three UNESCO World
Heritage sites visited on the trip, then stay for dinner served underground in
the mine. Next learn about communism in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:country-region
w:st="on">Poland</st1:country-region></st1:place> with a tour Nowa Huta, a
communist created factory town. Explore <st1:place w:st="on">Krakow</st1:place>
including the medieval Wawel castle, tour the Jewish quarter where
Schindler’s list was filmed, and see the Schindler Factory. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

(History 4850 for undergraduates and History 6957 for graduate students) to
