Dear Friends,
You are coordially invited to a gospel music celebration
will be held on Saturday, March 10 at the Triedstone Missionary Baptist
Church, 2045 Jacobs Road to honor famed gospel music legend, Delores
Ware-Spires. Ms. Ware-Spires was recently nominated for the 2007 Rock &
Roll Hall of Fame. Her nomination received a letter of support by
former Governor Robert Taft for her contribution to the music industry.
The service, which begins at 5:00pm, will feature gospel talents
throughout Ohio and western Pennsylvania. Invited program participants
include government leaders from the Youngstown and Cleveland areas, as
well as, a representative from Governor Ted Strickland’s office.
Ms. Ware-Spires has traveled with various groups around the country.
She was the lead singer with the Ervin Singers of Youngstown and
ministered with the famous Raymond Raspberry Singers of Cleveland and
the Argo Singers of Chicago. She has performed internationally
traveling with the World Evangelism Ministries where she was appointed
by Dr. Morris Cerllo as a member of his Board of Elders. A gifted
psalmist, her ministry has provided her venues in Israel, Paris and
London. She released a traditional gospel CD in 2006 entitled,
Inspirational Songs.
With more than fifty years of experience, she created and authored The
Spires Method, a patented technique which provides instruction to play
gospel music in six weeks. A respected clinician, she has provided her
expertise which has influenced several generations of musicians.
Ms. Ware-Spires has also worked as a pioneering gospel music promoter
producing musicals in northeastern Ohio. She was the first African
American female to host gospel productions at the Stambaugh Auditorium.
She has also appeared onstage for several gospel musical productions,
which were directed by Dr. Benny Pritchett of California.
In 1983, Ms. Ware-Spires was inducted into the McGuffey Centre Hall of
Fame for her contributions to the faith community. Her biographical
profile is currently featured in the 2006/ 2007 editions of Who’s Who
in Black Cleveland.
Ms. Ware-Spires serves as the Vice-President of HELP RESOURCES, INC. a
non-profit social service organization which mentors and tutors youth
that have been identified as at-risk. The organization also serves as
an advocate for elders and senior citizens and Members of the local
Community. She currently resides in Cleveland and is the mother of
three and has six grandchildren and one great-grandson.
