[bfsa] Two Important Announcemets

All members of BFSA are not only invited but encouraged to participate 
at two events of particular interest to us :
1. Conference. Step Up: An Education Conference on the Challenges of 
High School Education in the 21st Century on March 24, at the DeBartolo 
Stadium Club, from  Noon till 3:45 p.m. The conference which will focus 
on crirtical issues and concerns surrounding post-secondary 
preparationfor academic and social development will involve area 
educators, including the Ohio School Board Association member, Jennifer 
Economus, Martin V. Torres, Alliance for Excellent Education Policy 
Advocate, Youngstown City School Superintendent, Dr. wendy Webb, Warren 
City School Superintendent Dr. Kathryn Hellweg, Dr. Linda Ross, director 
of instruction for Boardman High School, Austintown Fitch Head 
Principal, Doug McGlynn, and 1st Lady of Youngstown, Sonya Williams. The 
conference is co-sponsored by BFSA and the Office of Equal Opportunity 
and Diversity.

2. Interviews.  The schedule for the interview of candidates for dean 
of  the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences has has been 
released. With the backing of the provost and directives from the Chair 
of the Search Committee, Paul Kobulnicky,  our participation is needed, 
with regard to diversity issues. We need to show up and make our views 
heard. Here is the schedule:

Wednesday, March 21 from 2:45-3;15 p.m.   meet candidate Kijinski

Thursday, March 22, from 4:-4:30, meet candidate Porter

Tuesday, March 27, from 1:15-1:45, meet candidate Rakos

Wednesday,March 28 from 2:30-3:00 meet candidate Furnish
 Even with your already tight schedules, I expect to see most of you at 
the conference or  the interviews. And lest I forget, thanks to those 
who attended the last meeting with the provost.
