The Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity in conjunction with the Presidential Mentors Selection Committee is accepting nominations of a diverse group of upper division students to serve as mentors to the President and to participate in the program. The students chosen for this program will constitute a student leadership team and will meet with the President and individual administrators in the President’s Cabinet once a month throughout the academic year.

The purpose of the program is as follows:

*	To develop student leaders and provide opportunities for students to demonstrate their leadership skills.
*	To demonstrate to the entire University community the benefits of diversity and the benefits of multicultural student leadership on campus.
*	To allow the President and the President’s executive leadership team to establish supportive, meaningful, and ongoing relationships with a broad cross-section of YSU students.
*	To provide the President and her executive leadership team with first-hand input from students designed to improve the campus climate, enhance the college experience, and stimulate the learning environment for all University students.
*	To demonstrate and promote the fact that the University respects and embraces the academic advice and mentorship of its students.
*	To recognize the leadership qualities of these participants at the Student Activities Banquet held during the spring semester of each year.

Nominees who have achieved upper-class status must be currently enrolled, in good standing, and available to attend and participate in monthly meetings, September through April. All nominations should be forwarded to the Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity, Tod Hall, Room 223, no later than September 8, 2010.

On a separate sheet, please include (1) your name; (2) your title; (3) your department; (4) your telephone number; (5) your e-mail address; (6) your nomination of a student who meets the above criteria; (7) how the presence of your nominee would add to the diversity of the Presidential Mentors team; and (8) how your nominee would make a meaningful contribution as a Presidential Mentor.

Nominations for Presidential Mentors will be reviewed, and each nominator and student will receive written notification of their selection. We thank you for your support of this effort.

Thank you.
