Space, Movement and Health: Biosocial Perspectives
04/18/2005 - 04/18/2005
Sponsored by the Biosocial Society, UK
This conference will provide a unique perspective on population mobility in
relation to the issue of health. It brings together relevant social
anthropological insights on embodiment, movement, diaspora and well-being
with demographic and biological approaches relating to patterns of disease
transmission, nutrition and access to health services. We therefore
integrate a range of approaches to look at how health is understood, managed
and contested by different populations in Western and non-Western countries.
