The Scholar of Peace Fellowship

Women in Security, Conflict Management and Peace (WISCOMP) invites
applications from South Asian professionals and scholars under the age of 45
for its Scholar of Peace Fellowships, awarded for academic research, media
and special projects.
WISCOMP is a South Asian research and training initiative that seeks to
promote an inclusive, gender-sensitive discourse on issues related to peace
and security in South Asia.
The Scholar of Peace Fellowship programme encourages innovative,
multi-disciplinary theoretical engagement and research on issues that
emerges at the intersection of the discourses on gender, security and
conflict transformation. These include areas such as human security,
conflict resolution, multi-track peace initiatives, terrorism, regional
cooperation, human rights, diversity and coexistence, governance, et al.
This year the focus will on projects that explore the interface between
gender and these issues, within the terrain of peacebuilding and conflict
transformation.
The fellowships cover a period ranging from three months to one year. The
one-year fellowships carry a grant of up to India Rs.2,00,000. Short-term
grants will be commensurate with the duration and objectives of the project.
Applicants may come from a variety of professional backgrounds including
academic, social movements, gender studies, peacebuilding, diplomacy, human
rights, defense, law, business, media and the arts.
The last date for receipt of applications is August 12, 2005. Candidates
should send a two-page CV, the names of two referees and a completed
application form. Short-listed candidates will be invited to submit a
detailed proposal. An expert committee, through a multi-step process that
could include interview, will select the fellows.
