Call for Papers: Journal of Asian Women's Studies, V.14
Theme: Human Security and Gender
Human security connects different types of freedoms: freedom from want,
freedom from fear, and freedom to take action on one's own behalf. To do
this, it offers two general strategies: Protection and Empowerment.

Gender perspective is essential for protecting people from pervasive threats
to human lives, livelihoods, and dignity and in enhancing their freedoms and
human fulfillment. This issue invites papers examining issues related to
human security from gender viewpoints to achieve women's empowerment and
gender equality. Case studies and the analysis of current situations,
policies, programs, and projects from gender, class, and race perspectives
on this theme are welcomed. Manuscripts that do not fall directly into the
themes will also be considered.
The submission deadline is July 31, 2005.
