Woodrow Wilson Center Fellowships in the Social Sciences and Humanities

The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars announces the opening
of its 2007-2008 fellowship competition. The Center awards approximately
20-25 academic year residential fellowships to scholars and practitioners
with outstanding project proposals in the social sciences and humanities on
national and/or international issues. Topics and scholarship should relate
to key public policy challenges or provide the historical and/or cultural
framework to illuminate policy issues of contemporary importance. Fellows
work from offices at the Wilson Center in Washington, D.C., where they
interact with policymakers and with Wilson Center staff working on similar
issues. Fellows are generally in residence for the entire U.S. academic year
(September through May) although a few fellowships are occasionally awarded
for shorter periods, with a minimum of four months. The Center tries to
ensure that the stipend provided under the fellowship, together with the
Fellow's other sources of funding (e.g., grants or sabbatical allowances)
approximate a Fellow's regular salary. Woodrow Wilson Fellows are provided
private offices, access to the Library of Congress, Windows-based personal
computers, and part-time research assistants for the duration of their
fellowship.

Eligibility Requirements:
For academic participants, eligibility is limited to the postdoctoral level.
Academic candidates must demonstrate their scholarly development by
publications beyond their Ph.D. dissertation. For most academic applicants
a book or monograph is required. For other applicants, an equivalent level
of professional achievement is expected. Applications from any country
are welcome.
