Program. Urban Community and Environment. Antioch University Los Angeles
is accepting applications for a full-time core faculty position,
specializing in interdisciplinary study of urban issues, in the B.A. in
Liberal Studies Program. The faculty member will have overall
responsibility for developing the program's new area of concentration,
Urban Community and Environment (UCE)
(http://www.antiochla.edu/uce.shtml), in addition to teaching courses in
the new concentration, advising undergraduate students, and cultivating
partnerships with community organizations. Ability and willingness to
teach a limited number of general education courses is also required. We
seek a dynamic and innovative teacher with academic expertise in
studying the city from interdisciplinary perspectives. Applicants must
have strong leadership and interpersonal skills, a demonstrated
commitment to community action and social justice, an ability to mentor
students, and a promising record of publication in their field.
Qualifications: An earned Ph.D. or terminal degree from a regionally
accredited institution in a field relevant to the interdisciplinary
study of the city - e.g., urban studies, history, political science,
sociology, humanities, environmental studies, political economy, or the
arts; at least three years of teaching experience at the college or
university level. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge
of the Los Angeles community that serves as the learning laboratory for
