George Mason University Department of Sociology and Anthropology
announces a tenure-track opening for an assistant professor with a
Ph.D. in either sociology or anthropology. We seek candidates whose
research and teaching expertise lies in the study of immigration,
ethnicity, and social and economic inequality within the United
States. The successful candidate should have demonstrated excellence
in the conduct of social research (whether using official statistics,
survey research, ethnography, or a mixture of methodological
approaches), and should be prepared to actively contribute to the
Mason Project on Immigration, an interdisciplinary program comprised
of faculty in the humanities and social sciences who are committed to
shaping the national debate about immigration (see

teaching is also expected. The department of sociology and
anthropology is a joint department that has grown rapidly in recent
years and is poised to introduce a new Ph.D. in sociology. George
Mason University is a large public university located in Northern
