The Department of Sociology and the International Studies Program at
Boston College invite applications for a tenure track assistant
professor position with a cutting-edge research program in any of the
following three areas: global environmental sociology, global social
movements, and immigration. Scholars with expertise in any geographic
area of the world are invited to apply, particularly those with an
Asian/Asian-American Studies focus. The tenure line is housed in the
Sociology Department. The position, which begins in the Fall of 2009,
entails half-time teaching in International Studies, which is an
undergraduate major, and half-time graduate and undergraduate teaching
in the Department of Sociology, whose PhD program specializes in
Social Economy and Social Justice: Class, Race and Gender in a Global
