Re the US military recruiting social scientists, this was done in a big
way in the 1960s-1970s under Project Camelot. It didn't work well. In
addition, many academics actively opposed it. See Irving Louis Horowitz,
_The Rise and Fall of Project Camelot_.

Re students forbidden to reveal their military source of funding. There's
an easy partial solution: Require all students to list all of their
funding and to issue a sworn declaration that there are no hidden sources.
Penalty for contravention would include expulsion.
