Dear colleagues,

I would like to draw your attention to the forthcoming one-day seminar "Signs of the City". To be held on 4 October 2008 at the Goethe Institute in London, this is an interdisciplinary event exploring perspectives on arts practice in education in relation to young people's urban culture. It will be of particular relevance to cultural researchers interested in visual methodologies, participatory arts, citizenship and European urban cultures.

The event is co-organized by the Centre of Urban and Community Research at Goldsmiths College (University of London), the Goethe Institute London, and youth art organizations Watermans (London) and urban dialogues (Berlin). It is based on the experiences of the European Commission funded Signs of the City project (www.citipix.net), a multi-media participatory arts project between Berlin, London, Sofia and Barcelona.

Speakers at the event include:

·	Michael Keith, Centre of Urban and Community Research, Goldsmiths
