[URBANTH-L]New Heritage Concentration at USF

The Department of Anthropology at the University of South Florida (http://anthropology.usf.edu <https://frontend.cas.usf.edu/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://anthropology.usf.edu/> ) announces a new Concentration in Heritage Studies. This concentration, which joins existing ones in cultural resource management and biocultural medical anthropology, allows graduate students to create a focused plan of study around issues in cultural heritage preservation, interpretation, and representation. Students in this concentration will learn to identify, document, and critically interpret the significance of cultural heritage in urban, rural, and non-US settings, with a particular emphasis on community-based and collaborative approaches to these issues. One course, Issues in Heritage Studies, is required. In addition, students choose electives from a list of courses offered in the program including museum methods, public archaeology, heritage tourism, ethnohistory, museums in culture, ethnicity and public policy, heritage research and management, oral and life history, among others.
