Description: Interactive Radio for Justice creates dialog between
victimized populations in regions where the International Criminal Court is
investigating crimes against humanity and the national and international
authorities responsible for rendering justice to them. As radio is the
primary tool for mass communication in the countries where the ICC is
currently investigating, this dialog is conducted through several series of
radio programming, each designed to address justice in an interactive
manner, which are produced in local languages and aired on independent radio
stations. In addition, listening groups and public meetings with justice
officials are organized so that target communities have the opportunity to
discuss justice amongst themselves and directly with national and
international authorities. To encourage youth to think about and discuss the
role of justice in their lives, the Music for Justice initiative of IRfJ
produces music which is written and performed by local youth on justice and
reconciliation themes. IRfJ is a hands-on field generated project, where the
issues discussed come directly from the target communities, and programming
is designed around the voiced concerns of people living in regions where the
most serious of crimes have been and are still being committed. More
information can be found about IRfJ at www.irfj.org

Interactive Radio for Justice partners with the US based NGO Insight
Collaborative for the administration of its funding. Insight Collaborative
helps governments, non-governmental organizations, charities, non-profits,
small companies, individuals and otherwise underserved populations manage
conflict more effectively. Insight Collaborative also provides, as with
Interactive Radio for Justice, structural support and collaboration for the
realization of like-minded and complimentary projects. More information
about Insight Collaborative can be found on www.insightcollaborative.org.
