[YSU-Academic-Senate] Recommendation for Commencement Speaker

Clarification - The recommendation is for Mr Lamoncha as a commencement speaker.
Dear Academic Senate Voting Body,
At the direction of the Academic Senate Chair, please indicate your vote on the following question:
Shall the Academic Senate recommend forwarding Mark Lamoncha’s name to the administration for approval and subsequently to the Youngstown State University Board of Trustees for confirmation as a commencement speaker?
Please reply to mipallante at ysu.edu with YEA or NAY no later than Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. The deadline is necessary to allow the votes of all Senate members. The results will be reported at the meeting as the Academic Senate’s collective vote, including the number of YEA and NAY votes.
Biography
Mark Lamoncha, President and CEO of Humtown Products, is a lifelong Mahoning Valley business and community leader. Lamoncha has transformed a third-generation family business into a nationally recognized leader in advanced manufacturing and 3D sand printing while remaining deeply engaged in our region’s economic and workforce development. His connection to Youngstown State University is longstanding and substantive. He serves on YSU’s STEM Advisory Board and Excellence Training Center Industrial Advisory Board, has partnered with YSU on advanced manufacturing initiatives, and has supported student entrepreneurship, including serving as a judge for our Penguin Shark Tank competition. He also has a strong relationship with the WCBA’s Ohio Small Business Development Center at YSU, whose director nominated him for the recognition that ultimately led to his selection as the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 2026 National Small Business Person of the Year.
