[YSU-Academic-Senate] Update from Senate Meeting on 9-9-26

Good morning everyone,

The academic senate met yesterday 9/9 at 4pm in Debartolo Hall Rm 132.  Attached are the general meeting minutes.  A recording of the meeting (contains detailed discussion and information), along with subsequent reports and information shared with the senate can be found at:

This information has also been uploaded in the Senate TEAMS site for direct access (Once the final senate lists are complete I will make sure that new senators are added to this site for access).

A couple of important reminders from the meeting:

Mr Mike Costarell is the new Vice Chair of the Senate and will finish out the year in that role.  Given his appointment, he is also now chairing the Governance Committee.  Mr Costarell will be coordinating with committees to make sure committee sheets are updated.  The senate has requested that worksheet information be updated by 11/1.  If anyone has any questions regarding their committee membership, please contact Mr Costarell.

Chair/Vice Chair election nominations are now open.  If you wish to nominate anyone for the upcoming election, please email Dr Bob Kramer by 9/16 at 5 pm.

Gen Ed is pilot testing their assessment plan and are looking for faculty who might be interested in having their course be part of the pilot assessment.  If interested, inform your chair with a CC to Dr Jackie Mercer.
  *
Student Government is having a public candidate forum on 9/17 from 4-6pm in Ford Theater, Bliss Hall.
  *
A vintage baseball exhibition will be held on September 19, 2026, at Mill Creek Park as part of Ohio 250 celebration.


The next meeting is scheduled for 10/7 in Debartolo Rm 132 at 4 pm.  See everyone in October!
