Re: Undergraduate Student Research Grant Request for Proposals (RFP)
I am pleased to announce the continuation of the Undergraduate Student
Research Grant Program. Please announce to undergraduate students in
your program the availability of this support program to help defray
the costs of research projects that they may initiate with faculty.
The Undergraduate Student Research Grant competition, funded by the
Provost and Dean of Graduate Studies and Research, will provide up to
$500, to pay for such things as: student travel expenses required for
data collection, supplies or materials, photocopying, and necessary
items of small equipment. A maximum of twenty awards will be made
during this phase of this program.
The Undergraduate Research Grant Program is “student centered.”
Proposals could relate to required undergraduate theses, senior
projects, or self-initiated student research, scholarship, or creative
projects. The student must write the proposal after identifying a
faculty mentor who agrees to supervise the project. Proposals based on
student-initiated original research will be favored in the selection
process. Proposals will be reviewed by a committee appointed by the
Dean of Graduate Studies and Research and will include faculty,
administrators, and student representatives. Signed applications, in
response to this Request for Proposals, must be received in the School
of Graduate Studies and Research (Room 359, Tod Hall) by 5:00 P.M.,
Monday November 19, 2007. No late applications will be accepted! The
grant financial disbursement will be made to the designated Student
Research Supervisor upon awarding of the scholarship.
Undergraduate Student Research Grant applications are available in the
School of Graduate Studies and Research or by email request to: Dr.
Jeffrey C. Dick, Director of Undergraduate Research at: jcdick at ysu.edu
Any questions regarding this RFP or requests for Scholarship
applications should be directed to: Dr. Jeffrey Dick, Director of
Undergraduate Research at jcdick at ysu.edu.
