YAPA Teachers,

You can combine microgravity (aka weightless) concepts with your
forces and motion lessons with the use of a Microgravity Demonstration
Kit and/or a Drop Tower for educators. The demo kit helps to explain
why the space station orbits the Earth, why it is NOT zero-gravity up
there, how planets orbit the sun, and more. The drop tower allows your
students to see the effects of "removing" gravity from a system.
Students can then make their own demonstration devices to investigate
gravity and forces and motion.

This page describes these two sets of equipment that can bring
microgravity into your classroom.

Why just explain the solar system in terms of relatives sizes of
planets separate from their separation distances? Why not have your
class make a scale solar system by combining those two size concepts?
This can be done with scale planets and Sun within 600 meters. Check
that web page for more info.
