Dear Environmental Anthropology Members:
The National Association of Student Anthropologists (NASA) is seeking seven
current members who are interested in being nominated as candidates for
Officer positions, Executive Committee seats, and other committee positions
open for 2005. In accordance with NASA bylaws
http://www.aaanet.org/nasa/bylaws.htm, if elected, nominees will serve two-
year terms, which will begin during the November 2005 Annual Meeting and end
in November 2007. If you are not currently a NASA member, but are currently an
anthropology student, we would like to encourage you to join and submit a
nomination. The application and the nomination are both brief and
straightforward. You can add a NASA membership to your other AAA section
memberships for only $1. Links to an online application and a paper form are
available on the NASA website http://www.aaanet.org/nasa/index.htm
NASA's purpose is to "stimulate and encourage the interests and involvement of
both graduate and undergraduate students in anthropology." Working with NASA
is a great way to gain leadership experience and an excellent opportunity to
network with professors, professionals and other students nationwide. The
atmosphere is friendly and collegial. Nominees are encouraged to bring and
develop their own ideas for how NASA can better serve the interests of its
student membership.
The NASA Nominations Committee will form a slate of candidates from nominees
for each position. NASA members will then vote for the candidates during the
AAA Spring Ballots. The following summaries describe the duties of the
