2006 International Essay Competition
Prize for the best essay on urban and regional themes by young authors

In collaboration with the International Journal of Urban Regional Research
and Blackwell Publishing, the Foundation for Urban and Regional Studies is
organising a fourth international essay competition for the best essay on
urban and regional themes by young (under 35) scholars.

A prize of £1,000 will be awarded to the overall winner, three second prizes
of £500 and three third prizes of £250 will be awarded respectively for: 1)
essays written in English by native English speaking authors; 2) essays
written in English by non-native English speaking authors; and 3) essays
written in French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish. Essays which
reach the final round of judging but which are not awarded one of the first
three prizes will share Blackwell book prizes totalling £700. The first
prize essay will be published in the International Journal of Urban and
Regional Research subject to any changes required by the Editor and will be
translated if necessary.
