About the Program

The program offers hands-on, applied research experiences that integrate 
qualitative and quantitative methods used to conduct community 
health-related research. The course is open to general sciences, social 
sciences, public health, anthropology or biology majors (to name a few). 
Participants also learn about Puerto Rico sociopolitical history and the 
changes of its health system, visit some of the Island's natural reserves 
and participate in social and cultural activities. The research topics for 
the 2007 Research Methodologies and Community Health Summer Field School 
include: environmental health and health education.

Program Costs & Deadlines Fees: $2,700.00
Application due: February 15th, 2007
Deposit due: March 15th, 2007
Registration payment due: April 15th, 2007

Program Features:
- Registration at UPRC (4 undergraduate credits, INTD 4996; equivalent to 3 
USF credit hours)
- Airfare equivalent to a roundtrip from Tampa, Fl to San Juan, PR and 
return
- In campus housing with all meals (except on Sundays)
- Ground transportation to and from Luis Muñoz Marín airport
- 2 weeks of classes and research methods workshops and 2 weeks of 
structured field research
- Other Workshops: SPSS and Team Work
- All program-related site visits
- Two out of town excursions . Mentorship
- Books and supplies
- Spanish/English language classes (basic coversational proficiency 
required)

Medical Insurance Coverage
Students must either provide evidence of medical insurance coverage or pay 
and additional $114.00 to be covered by the UPR health plan.
