Global Studies/Research Methodologies: University of California, Berkeley.
The International and Area Studies Teaching Program (IASTP) invites
applications for one or more part-time non-senate faculty positions to teach
Interdisciplinary Research Methodologies and/or Global Studies for the
spring 2007 semester with the option of possible renewal. International and
Area Studies offers six innovative and interdisciplinary undergraduate
majors: Political Economy of Industrial Societies, Peace and Conflict
Studies, Development Studies, Middle Eastern Studies, Asian Studies, and
Latin American Studies. In addition, it houses 3 interdisciplinary graduate
programs: a concurrent MA in International and Area Studies, and graduate
groups in Asian Studies and Latin American Studies. Duties of the position:
Teaching one or more of the following courses: a) Interdisciplinary Research
Methodologies: This core methods class for IAS majors has the mandate to
train students in a wide range of social science methodologies, to teach
them how to relate different theories to methods, and to prepare them for
research design and thesis research. b) Global Studies: Introductory and
advanced courses in Global Studies, especially those that are able to draw
upon current debates and research in anthropology, sociology, geography, and
even the humanities. IASTP already offers courses with a focus on political
science and political economy. There is some flexibility in the substantive
and regional areas that might be covered by this position. Rank: Non-senate
faculty. Salary: $40,044 minimum full-time annual salary base. Actual salary
base would be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Minimum
appointment is for one course at 33% per semester or 17% full-time employee
annualized. However, the search committee is open to hiring 1 candidate to
teach multiple courses. Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in a relevant field or
a post-graduate degree with substantial related practical and research
experience. A strong interdisciplinary orientation and a commitment to, and

The Anthropology Department at Colby College invites applications for a
tenure-track appointment at the assistant professor level, beginning
September 1, 2007, for candidates with demonstrated research and teaching
expertise in the anthropology of Latin America.  The successful candidate
will teach one section of introduction of cultural anthropology per year, a
regional course on Latin American ethnography, as well as three additional
courses to be determined in conjunction with departmental needs.  We
encourage applications from scholars whose areas of teaching and research
interest complement those of existing faculty and may include such areas as:
medical anthropology, environmental anthropology, anthropology of religion
and consciousness, critical poverty studies, anthropology of race and

The African-American Studies Program and the Anthropology Department at
Colby College invite applications for a tenure-track joint appointment at
the assistant professor level, beginning September 1, 2007. We seek an
anthropologist whose teaching and research deal centrally with the Caribbean
region (broadly defined) and its diverse populations of African descent. In
addition to ethnographic experience, candidates should have a broad
knowledge of the cultural history and political economy of the region. The
successful candidate will teach one section of introduction to cultural
anthropology per year, a regional course on Caribbean ethnography, as well
as three additional courses, at least one of which will examine critically
the African diaspora in the western hemisphere and the Atlantic world. We

September 1, 2007. We seek a scholar with a Ph.D. in anthropology and
demonstrated research and teaching interests in the human rights arena. The
ideal candidate will have an interest in exploring both international human
rights policy and its impact on diverse communities and social settings. We
seek individuals with areas of expertise in the field of anthropology and
human rights that may include one or more of the following: refugees and
displaced populations, genocide or racial/ethnic violence and their
aftermaths, civil war and other conflict zones, environmental and/or
indigenous rights movements, religious/ethnic/gendered modes of persecution,
and/or the roles and practices of international institutions (courts, NGOs,
humanitarian aid), among other topics. Sub-specialties of interest include
community-building and non-governmental organizations, media studies, and/or

4. U of Illinois at Chicago, Transnational/Global Anthropology, Asst. Prof.

University of Illinois at Chicago, Department of Anthropology, invites
applications and nominations for tenure-track positions in Medical
Anthropology and Transnational/Global Anthropology to begin in August, 2007.
The department expects to add two faculty members in total, selected from
the areas mentioned. Appointments are expected to be at the Assistant
Professor level and are pending budgetary approval.

For the position in Medical Anthropology, we seek a Socio-cultural
Anthropologist with an active research program in global/international
health, health and nutrition, reproductive health, infectious diseases,
and/or anthropological demography.  Geographic area is open. The successful
applicants will join a growing community of scholars who are integrating
research interests in the Department of Anthropology, the School of Public
Health (UIC) and the Field Museum.

For the position in Transnational/Global Anthropology we are looking for a
Socio-cultural Anthropologist with research interests in one or more of the
following areas: transnational labor, anthropology of neoliberalism and
global capitalism, critical ethnography of globalization and transnational
cultural phenomena. The geographic area is open.

PhD should be completed by the time of the appointment. The candidates
should also demonstrate scholarly productivity, the potential for grant

The Program in Anthropology at The University of Texas at Arlington invites
applications for a tenure track or tenured appointment at the assistant or
associate professor level in social/cultural anthropology. Although area of
research specialization is open, we seek a scholar whose research interests
will complement and strengthen those of our cultural anthropology faculty
(i.e., globalization, international migration and medical anthropology);
applications are particularly invited from scholars in public anthropology,
political anthropology and development anthropology. Preference will be
given to candidates with an active research agenda in Africa, Asia or Latin
America. The successful candidate will be prepared to teach undergraduate
and graduate courses in anthropological theory as well as in his/her topical
areas of expertise. The Anthropology Program emphasizes a four-field
approach and currently includes a permanent faculty of five, with two
cultural anthropologists, two archaeologists and one biological
anthropologist.
