Anthropology
Assistant Professor

The Department of Anthropology in the College of Liberal Arts at the
University of Minnesota invites applications for a full-time Assistant
Professor of Anthropology. Ph.D. in Anthropology or related field in
hand by date of appointment. Exceptional ABDs may be considered for
appointment at the level of tenure-track instructor. Specialization in
historical archaeology; a demonstrated research record and
publications in issues of power, diasporas, inequality, and structural
violence among communities and populations with a legacy of
subordination by slavery, discrimination, and/or colonization in the
Americas preferred. Duties/Responsibilities: maintain an active
program of research and publication; value and encourage research and
teaching across the sub-disciplines of anthropology and in
interdepartmental programs, and be committed to expanding an already
existing Cultural Heritage Studies Master's program. An individual
willing to have at least one geographical focus in Minnesota
preferred. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the department
as well as participate in committee service. This is a 100%-time,
tenure-track faculty appointment beginning Fall Semester 2008. Review
