Assistant Professor

Brown University's Department of Anthropology invites applications for
a tenure-track assistant professor in sociocultural anthropology,
appointment to be effective July 1, 2008. The successful candidate
will contribute to the department's program in Anthropology and
Population and to Brown's interdisciplinary Population Studies and
Training Center. Research interests in the study of population are
broadly defined and may include, but are not limited to, migration,
reproduction, population politics, the social and population
dimensions of public health, gender and family organization, and
population and the environment. Geographical area of expertise is
open, although preference will be given to candidates with
international interests and areas of specialization that complement
current faculty strengths. Candidates already holding faculty
positions, as well as all others having PhD in hand before August,
2008, are welcome to apply. The successful candidate will teach
anthropology at the undergraduate and graduate levels, have an
outstanding research agenda and actively participate in an
interdisciplinary population research and training community.

Candidates should send a letter of application, a curriculum vitae,
and contact information for three references. Recommenders will be

on November 1, 2007.
