To SUNTA Members:

Seeking interest and papers for the following proposed panel...

Proposed Title: Anthropologists Addressing Youth Violence in Both
Domestic and Global Contexts

Description: This session will highlight the work and contribution of
anthropologists to the study of violence (and violence prevention)among
youth/young people in both a domestic and global context, focusing on
the intersection of poverty, marginalization, globalization and gender
roles in contributing to local and transnational cultures of violence.
Presenters/papers would include those addressing the following issues:
urban and suburban youth violence in the U.S.; gang violence, including
transnational youth gang issues (e.g., Mara Salvatrucha, Vatos Locos,
etc.); youth and child soldiers/guerrilla fighters worldwide (e.g., West
Africa, Middle East); and media representations of violence.

If interested, please let me know.
