Tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor of Sociocultural
Anthropology, beginning September 2008. We are seeking candidates
whose research engages transnational and national political processes
from an anthropological perspective. This focus may include (but is
not limited
to) the anthropology of the state, forms of governance, citizenship,
human rights, humanitarian intervention, environmental crises,
refugees and displacement, and the politics of global security.

Preference will be given to candidates specializing in geographical
areas not covered by the department, especially the Middle East and
East or Southeast Asia. Candidates must demonstrate an active research
agenda and a strong record of scholarship. PhD required at time of
appointment. Teaching experience strongly preferred. Expected to teach
introductory-level
course, area and topic courses, seminar in area of research, and
theory in rotation with other faculty. Review of applications is
