We are seeking applicants for a tenure-track position in Urban Sustainability in the Urban Studies Program at University of Washington Tacoma.  The position is open in terms of geographic area and discipline. We encourage applications from those who approach urban sustainability from social, political and/or environmental justice perspectives.

The Urban Studies Program at the University of Washington, Tacoma invites applications for a position in Urban Sustainability.  The successful applicant will assist in the creation of a proposed undergraduate program in Sustainable Urban Development and contribute to the existing Urban Studies degree. We seek a broadly trained urbanist with a PhD (advanced ABD considered) in one of the social sciences or a planning-related field whose teaching and research reflect an ability to approach urban sustainability from social, political, and/or environmental justice perspectives.

 

This is a full-time, tenure-track position to begin September 16, 2008.  The appointment will be at the Assistant Professor level.  Teaching responsibilities will include introductory and advanced courses in urban sustainability.  In addition the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop courses which complement existing programmatic strengths.
