On March 28 and 29, 2008, the Department of Germanic Studies is
hosting the Second German Studies Workshop on Berlin, Divided City,
1949-89. The workshop includes interdisciplinary panels on the history,
politics, photography, film, and literature of Cold War Berlin, as well as
keynote lectures by Greg Castillo (University of Sydney) on "The Liminal
City: Cold War Berlin as a Cultural Transfer Station" (3/28, 4-5 PM, ACE
2.402) and Barbara Hoidn (UT Austin/Berlin): "Berlin, the Urban
Palimpsest" (3/29, 4-5 PM, ACE 2.402). For the program, please visit the
