The Anthropology Program, SAPE Department, at the American University  
in Cairo invites applicants for an open rank position in Socio- 
Cultural Anthropology to begin Fall 2009. The Department is seeking  
candidates who will enrich the regional focus of the program and whose  
research and teaching is geographically grounded in MENA and its  
diverse transnational connections, particularly to South Asia.  
Candidates whose interests focus on urban anthropology; political  
anthropology, colonial and postcolonial dynamics; consumption,  
tourism, and globalism are particularly encouraged to apply.  
Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate an ability to  
talk across geographic and disciplinary boundaries.

Additional Information:

Tenure track with initial two- or three-year (renewable) appointment  
subject to mutual agreement will begin September 2009. Renewal of an  
appointment depends upon institutional needs and/or the appointee's  
performance.
