Folks,

I would most strongly urge you to attend any and all of the open sessions for the three provost finalists this coming week. The open forums are all at 10:15-11:00 AM and 3:15-4:00 PM in the Board of Trustees Room in Tod Hall. The candidates visiting YSU are:

Monday, March 4: Dr. Nathan Klingbeil
Tuesday, March 5: Dr. Wayne Vaught
Friday, March 8: Dr. Brien Smith

You may have missed last week’s visit of the first finalist, Dr. Susan Stapleton. If you did miss her, I would strongly encourage you to engage with the remaining finalists in one or both of the open forums this week.

The background of all the finalists and a mechanism to provide feedback can be found at the following URL: https://ysu.edu/provost-search/finalists.

The choice of a new provost is a critical decision for the future of YSU, especially with regard to the academic division of our institution. In my opinion, the academic division is being gradually minimized so as to sustain non-revenue generating, non-academic related portions of the institution. We need to help ensure that the position continues to be filled with a strong, effective advocate for academics. Without our collective voices, we are sure not to influence the final choice of an individual who will put academics first.

Please consider attending the open forums and making your voice heard.

Cheers,

Chet
