Hi sarah --
I've recently become interested in this topic as well. I know of 2 books -- Mary Yu Danico's The 1.5 Generation: Becoming Korean American in Hawai'i (U of Hawaii Press, 2004) and Sucheng Chan (ed) The Vietnamese American 1.5 Generation: Stories of War, Revolution, Flight and New Beginnings (Temple, 2006).

Dear Sarah,

We just published a paper by Dorothy Zinn in our new Working Papers Series on aspects of their organising in Italy (follow the link in the signature below).

+ the work of David Parker (in JEMS) in the UK and Susanne Wessendorf (Switzerland) (in Social Anthropology + COMPAS working papers)

Colleagues,

A student of mine is having difficulty finding articles/references on 1.5 generation immigrants (ones appropriate for undergraduate paper) and also if anyone has written about immigrants' dual frame of reference especially regarding 1.5 generation. Please help by sending references to me.

Thank you! Sarah Mahler
