Harvard University. The Department of Anthropology invites
applications for a tenure-track appointment at the level of Assistant
or untenured Associate Professor in the field of Social Anthropology.
Applications will be considered from scholars whose research is firmly
grounded in ethnographic fieldwork. The Department seeks a scholar
whose research and teaching focuses on aspects of contemporary
migration, mobility, circulation, and/or diasporas, in relation to
such topics as: gender and sexuality; media and popular culture;
national, regional, or ethnic conflicts; and/or transnational markets
and socio-economic transactions. Geographical and cultural areas of
research and teaching are open, but we are especially interested in
scholars who work on Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, or the
Caribbean.

Instruction in the Anthropology Department will include courses at the
undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates are expected to
demonstrate a promise of excellence both in research and teaching. The
appointment will begin on July 1, 2009, and a strong doctoral record
is required.

Send application, including CV, transcripts, the names of three
academic references, a sample of written materials and teaching
